No, it doesn't mean that you muppet.
They're discontinuing the support for v7.1 because they've released v7.5.
Hence no support or updates, thertefore useless really.
It's possible maybe that they worded it all wrong or something - I already had version 7.5 installed.

As I said, my bank offers it for free to their customers.
I also get Norton for free from my internet provider, but I got rid of it because it slows down the system so much.
Hmmm... "Norman" reminds me of the dumbest kid from our 6th grade class. Funny how names stick with you.

AVG 7.5 Free Edition
The AVG Free Edition is provided free-of-charge, and its functionality is limited. All functions provided within the AVG Free Edition respond to the AVG Professional Basic Interface level.
AVG Free Edition working environment
When you first open AVG, you will see the AVG Test Center allowing you to run tests, update your AVG and edit some basic configurations.
The main AVG console, however, is the AVG Control Center. The AVG Control Center launches automatically upon Windows startup, and you can see its icon in the system tray - double-click the icon to open the interface (otherwise, you can access it from either the Testing Interface, or via the Start menu -> Programs -> AVG Free Edition -> AVG Control Center). The AVG Control Center lists all installed components, gives information on their status, and allows you to fully configure them.
This is all you need to know to begin using AVG Free Edition

I have AVG installed on my PC. Now when I log in, I get a big huge box that fills the screen almost, informing me that AVG v7.1 will no longer be free as of January '07.
Does this mean that after 3 years of owning a PC, that I will have to dig deep and finally purchase ant anti virus program.
DAMN!
