Every once in a while I'm talking with RHP users about baby names and such... and let my wife know. Well, she said I should really ask you guys to make a list of names that might be good for boy or girl, since we don't know the gender of the baby.

So, get this list started! Let's hear your ideas for baby names... make em good, as she's very picky!

Thanx guys!

Phlab, all you need to know about names is in the Ivory Tower thread on parenting. Please consult. For most kids who are messed up in life it started with their name.

If you don't know the gender yet, you could choose a name which can be both female or male. Some examples (some of them are male in one language and female in another one):

Kim
Lee
Jean
Jan
Janne
Kari
Andrea
Inge
Gerd
Dominique

Do you want something extremely unique and distinctive , a little off beat ?
I tried to pick names for my kids that were unique , strong , and wouldn't get chopped up into nick names immediately . (What's the sense of naming a kid William if he'll be called Bill all of his life ?)
I also wanted a nice flow into the middle name as well . Here are my kid's names : Deidre Amber , Mason Caine , Madeline Fiona .

Here are other names we'd considered :
Spencer , Seth , Nolan , Stuart , Orion

Olivia , Patina , Summer , Felicia

On a couple of funny notes , I had a Brit friend (Nigel Moody)who said that everyone spends huge amounts of time and resorces on their children so that they'll make something of themselves and get a title of some kind . Society in his opinion , pays more attention to the title than the name . So he thought he'd cut to the chase with his kids and name them : Senator Moody , Doctor Moody , Luetenant Moody , etc . This way they'd already have the title with no expense .

My Canadian neighbor grew up down the block from an east Indian family . They named their boys , "Happy" , and "Suitcase" . God only knows why .

PS - Many congrats ! Hope mom and child are healthy and happy .

OK, obviously many have not read my Ivory Tower thread on naming a child, so I will have to do a make-up lesson on here to keep ole Phlab from messin up his kid fo life. The advice he's gettin on this thread is horrible. Let me tell ya something, you name a kid "Gerd" and it's all over. Just start forking out money on tha psychaitrist.
