Exactly...
EXACTLY one year ago I left.

I had a house, I had a Renault Megane 1.6 16v sports coupe, I had a well paid job...I had everything. And I gave it all away.
One morning I realised that I was wakening up every morning to go to work, to spend 8 hours a day acting like I cared about what was going on, to come home and watch TV all evening, to get up the next morning to go to work to finance this endless, mind-numbing cycle.

I gave everything I owned to charity and buggered off to India. Then to Thailand. Then to England.

Now, don't get me wrong. I really have enjoyed myself.
Obviously the runs in India were a little unpleasant and having to go to Bumrungrad (I kid you not) hospital in Bangkok was slightly worrying and catching a serious dosis of the skank in Manchester wasn't my idea of heaven either.
But generally I bummed about in poverty, wrote a book and had a god-awfully good time to myself.

Then when I returned to Holland I ended up sleeping in a CD cupboard, on an airbed and I nearly burned my dick off needlessly...

Tonight, exactly one year on, I've got my own house. A job. A car (A Nissan Micra without windshield wipers, but it's got bloody good music in it anyways).
Once again, I have absolutely everything somebody could want.

And to celebrate my return to god-awful boredom, loneliness and the plebish existance of the majority, I've downed 20 milligrams of valium and opend a chilled bottle of rose.

Hell. Did God ever create a better combination?

Usually your stories don't leave me depressed.

Jesus.

Time to work on your golf game and buy a mini-van.

Everything seems, to me, to be a circle. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
And eventually you end up like Winnie the Pooh. Here. Now.

And the now is so important.
And so boring.

A wise Buddist once said: "Look at your feelings and being objectively and you'll understand their place."

Obviously he shouldn't have said that whilst standing on a railtrack.

One correction.. It isn't "square one" anymore. Add 365 days to the equation.. it's a brand new chessboard. Good luck!

A new chessboard, yet every piece is in exactly the same spot as the previous chessboard.

And yes, you can move them in different directions, but ultimately, you are moving them. We all move them. And eventually RSI catches up and we go in therapy.

I survived India without getting the aforementioned runs.

I did pick up a nasty Indian flu varient that knocked me out for a week (spent in bed) with excruciating migrane level headaches, but my digestive constitution remained in tip-top condition!
