-Removed-The number of cases [not deaths] in Indonesia is interesting. There are approximately 17500 islands, 6,000 inhabited, which helped keep the number down. COVID didn't even reach literally 1,000s of islands. However, about 200,000,000 Indonesians live on about 4-5 of the islands. Java is one of the most densely populated parts of the world.

@fmf saidThe first deaths in Indonesia were a group of three who died within hours of each other in Jakarta. One of them was my uncle! It was a real shock. Later in the year [2020], nine people died who attended an ill-advised family gathering in a house no more than 30m from where I am sitting as I type this! Another shock. In the midst of all that, my wife was extremely ill with something else! 2020... annus horribilis!
