It will be a hollow tournament victory whether you win by timeout or by beating the people fair and square.
A timeout is a win, and if you should happen to win a lowly 1300 tournament then well done.

My rating was 1300+ when I entered.
I entered the tournament primarily to play chess hence the reason I
ain't taking the T/O.
FYI: If you win a game your rating goes up (now thats fitting) and it is courtesy of a few victories in the tournament that my rating has now gone up.
I would say my rating should be between 1350 & 1450 so how is it below my rating ????

What you do within the rules is upto you, but I can't see how you can have a moral dilemma winning a tournament that is below your rating by T/O?
[EDIT] TBH, My posts make me look like I care more than I do. Yours isn't a bad example of people deflating their rating to enter lower banded tournaments. Apologies.

i ain't taking the T/O route.
as for the hundreds of games, well i have played several players many times inflating the rating (jimkey, dikko, dikkotwo etc).
i consider my rating to be about 1450 which is slightly above the banded tournament. they key being though that i must have had a rating of 1350+ in order to enter the tournament. if i could have entered the 1450 i would have.
my concious is clear, i only posted to find out if it was considered bad form to take t/o's in tournament games.
in order to prove how much i want the cup i shall resign all the games when i get the next opportunity.
my game against chuphone will be the first i would guess
