Worrying:

'There are national standards for enforcement agents. These good practice guidelines set out general rules for how bailiffs should behave and what procedures they should follow. You can mention these standards in your complaint but the standards are not enforceable by law.'

edit: NEVER LET THE BALIFFS IN YOUR HOUSE!

Never ever open your door to a baliff either, he can put his foot over the threashold and claim access in the eyes of the law and you havent got a leg to stand on, also if you have a window open they can also class this as legal entry to your property gaining access that way. You come home from work and all your contents are gone! NOT NICE!

Yeah. Or just buy a cattle-prod, open the door and stick it to them.

I've had probs with bailiffs over an unpaid parking ticket. If I remember rightly they're called Crilleys and are complete tosspots. I can't believe the council hire these people, they're nothing but scum

edit: except for Cad..he's great πŸ™„

I'm not a bailiff, they're normally appointed by a court and if it goes that far you're in deep doo doo. πŸ˜‰

I would like to offer the other side of the coin.

I have a flat which I let out. My tennants 4 months ago stopped paying rent (4x £850). I wrote to them using a firm of solicitors (£115) giving them 2 months notice to leave - they didn't.

It takes a further 2 months to get them to court (£650). Fortunately they left last week before the Baliffs came. They caused a lot of damage inside the flat. Including basic repairs the episode cost me £5,000 and a hell of a lot of stress to me and my family.

I've got the dishevelled flat on the market to try to recoup the money it cost. If I could have got baliffs in at the end of their agreement or after 6 weeks non-payment I would have.

Those that don't pay their council tax, just make the likes of you and I pay more. I earn nothing at all (new business self employed) I pay £9,000 rates, £1,10 council tax. I'm gald if councils chase down non-payers.
