You could open an account at your local branch then, assuming that the country to which you are travelling has a(n) HSBC, instruct the bank official to complete a group identification form. This form detailing your ID and VA (verification of address) can be sent to the foreign branch.
Please note though as all countries have retained ...[text shortened]... .
Other services, via the Postal route, may be more cost efficient.
