Any baseball fans out there? Want to draft and manage your own team? At whatifsports.com you can do just that. Your team is given a salary based on what league you joined and then you put together teams using any players from the 1800s up to 2004. As manager and GM you set your lineup and pitching rotation, and make all the roster changes. The artificial intelligence plays the games at a rate of three per day (so it takes 54 days to complete a full 162 game season).

My team, Kaline's Krew, is currently 24-23. Mark Fidrych got the win in my last game (7-2), Cecil Fielder hit his 15th homerun, and Ty Cobb stole his 24th base.

You can play a full 162 game season for $12.99 or a 10 game "spring training" season for free.

There must be serious defect in the AI if a team composed solely of Detroit Tigers can be above .500; a winning percentage somewhere around the 1962 Mets or the Cleveland Spiders of 1899 would be more realistic.

LOL. It seems like ages ago when the Tigers had a winning season. The last one I can remember is when they stole the pennant from the Blue Jays in '87. That one stung. I'm sure there have been winning years after that but they don't stand out in my mind.

It's been 11 years since they had a winning record. Yeah, go ahead and laugh. But this year things are going to be different. We got Troy Percival, Magglio Ordonez, and Kyle Farnsworth in the offseason. It's on to the World Series! You'll see!

Isn't Farnsworth the guy who kicked the air conditioner and ended up on the DL? Sounds like a good investment! 🙄

Ordonez was a nice pick-up and Percival should have one or two years left in him if he doesn't lose his job to "ol' bootsy" Farnsworth. They will definitely help the team. And having Pudge never hurts anyone.

I'm on my second baseball league. The last time I named my team the Ann Arbor Aardvarks and only took players whose last names started with "A". Hank Aaron, Matty Alou, Brady Anderson, Rick Aguilera, Luis Aparicio, etc.

They didn't do so well.

I'm glad some people are posting here. I really don't have the skill, knowlede, or time to do the game.... but it sounds fun. I've got a friend who's big into NFL fantasy games, and if I were to do one it would be MLB.

Keep me posted on the info, I'm interested in how you do, and if anyone else is joining.

Go Tigers, Up Kaline's Krew!

You can play the spring training league for free. It's only ten games long, so you can do the whole thing in just over three days. Then you could see if you liked it or not.

If we got enough people interested we could start a private league with all RHP people in it.

We should make a RHP Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League for this season. I would definitely join. Hell, I'll even set it up if we got 10 or 12 people who want to participate.

Yeah, man. Yahoo! (C) has very excellent fantasy sports games that are free to play. All you need is a Yahoo! ID. I am usually in a league for Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey (not this year though) every season.
