...and there has been a lot of good ones.

My hometown of Seattle in the 30's was locked in the deepfreeze of the great depression just like the others, but out of it came bunch of unemployed young loggers, fishermen, and millhands eager for a hot meal, a decent bed, and a chance for a college education. A true story that will inspire.

Can I suggest you watch American Buffalo - also based on a stage play by David Mamet - which kind of tackles the underbelly of the American dream in a similar way to Glengary Glen Ross.

I couldn’t bear to watch Goodfellas again. It’s far too violent and upsetting for me now.

Fargo - starring Frances McDormand, Peter Stormare, Steve Buscemi, William H. Macy - is scary and humorous.

I have watched "Precious" yesterday (the film is from 2009). It was deeply moving and well acted.
