Best Game in Town
Best game in town isn't necessarily poker, though Texas Hold 'Em certainly is a fiercely dramatic showdown of savvy, courage and poise under fire with extraordinarily lucrative tournament financial rewards. Best game in town isn't necessarily chess either, even though it's the greatest game mankind has yet invented because there's no luck and because no two games ever result in the same outcome. Hands down, best game in town is the talking game... sans 52 cards, 64 squares or 32 pieces. Just one ego and one other ego getting it on.
Interesting to note that each of the three popular games involves 'tells' (unintentional behaviors which express, reveal and inform insights into the mind and thinking process, stature and temperament of an opponent). Poker 'tells' include facial expressions, eye movement, anxiety (perspiration, trembling hands), glancing at chips, peeking too often at hole cards after the flop, repetitive betting patterns and nervous chip stacking. RHP correspondence chess also offers an array of insights or opponent 'tells'. thanks largely to the recent enhancement of performance stats, access to an opponent's live and completed games, current gameload and volume of moves.
Let's define the 'talking game' as our day in/day out public forum conversational thread posting. Nickname, self proclaimed title, location, profile wording, profile picture, avatar, membership status, tenure, favorite forums, topics of threads launched, posting substance and communication style provide an identity signature of the character and maturity, values and focus of each one of us for all to see.
Just one guy's point of view. There's no need to be timid or bashful. You're among friends. So if you've formed an opinion, sing out.

Chess is not a game, it is a medium for two minds to battle.
And "talking" sucks because everyone thinks they are right these days.
Even me. 😉
Guessing that some might maintain that poker and coversation function as similar mediums.

Too much luck in poker...so it is a game.
And I already told you about "talking".
Try talking to someone young and see how dull "talking" is.
Don't make me whoop yer a$$ Bobby.
seems far too subjective/dismissive for my perspective and taste. Love talking with young
people and do so most every day at the pool. They're so bright eyed, fun, appreciative.
The post that was quoted here has been removedNickname: Probably a grandfather; Title/location/avatar: Boston roots, sense of history (and playful humor in tweaking the RHP British Membership); Profile wording: past his prime/knows his chess board limitations, reasonably well read and spiritually focused; Picture: Who's the hottie? Hmm... maybe the guy's still socially active; Membership/tenure: quite possibly a vacuum in his life (widower?) with an aggressive 12,000 moves in two years; Forums/thread topics/posting substance/style: Socially assertive extrovert with a serious and intense play of mind, an internet newcomer out of sync with Gen-X with an individualized and at times overly nuanced writing style; Character: Integrity appears to matter; Maturity: Relaxed, easily forgives; Values: Conservative/Christian; Focus: ideas and people.
Your turn, Tim.
