The problem with wireless ones, at least the ones I used is they have a fairly high background noise level. They need to solve that problem before I would use them. I would love to have wireless earphones for my home music studio, I have gone mostly wireless on everything else, wireless mouse, keyboard, wireless control surface, etc. Anyone ever hear of a wireless video monitor?
I would add to this with what are the best wireless headphones for home use? I hate being tied down by a cord, no matter how long it is.

My choices would be two-Grado SR-80s and Koss Pro 4 AAA from the 1970s these two are the best phones i ever heard.
The latter are, hands-down, both far better and far more expensive. If you have the money to burn and discerning ears, Stax headphones are amazing.

Could I ask you hi fi experts advice on a good microphone. I want a strap on one like drummers use but without headphones attached. I am after a reasonable quality one but not something that will break the bank. Somewhere around the £20 to £30 mark would be good.
Anyway, one of the Shure's like the SM-57 is a good mike and you can find them used, maybe on Ebay, its a dynamic mike, meaning it does not need a power supply like condenser mikes which usually sound better but costs ten times as much or more. You can pay 5000 bucks US for the higher end condensers. The Shure's you can get at Radio shack I think. They have mikes like it for shureπ

I've also tried searching for 'strap on microphone' π and 'drummer microphones'. These searches yield no results.

Sorry, haven't got the hang of tiny url yet!
I think what you are talking about is the kind of mike you wear, right?
The SM57-58 variety is the standard mike that needs a mike stand, something you can get pretty cheap at Radio shack, they make some decent ones now, fold up three leg stands, light weight with booms.
But of course the kind that you wear is a lot more portable. My wife likes to use that kind on our gigs because she looks around the audience and with the head mike she does not have to keep her head aimed into a mike all the time because it follows her movements of course.

For recording you absolutely have to have closed cup phones or earbuds with foam inserts like those little Koss ones you get from the Shack. This is because open cup phones feed back into the mikes and lend to some nice squeel sessions! The better the mike, the better the earphones the worse the feedback! Closed phones isolate the sound from the mike so they don't interfere.
I have an excellent pair of Sennheiser HD 595's.
