At the risk of sounding a shill, a few months ago in the mail I received a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor for no apparent reason than maybe I had requested one online or some such. I don't remember.
Anyway, I have to say that the razor is awesome. Now, I don't *like* to shave at all, but sometimes, ya gotta. I've been using this twin blade cartridge for years, but it ALWAYS clogged up and basically became useless fast. But, this big, solid razor felt good in my hand, and as I dragged it down the side of my face, the lubrication strips worked, the pivot of the blade meant that I could make a continuous motion down the side of my face, and the 3 blades didn't clog! The blade is capable of almost a 90 degree bend, compared to probably 45-60 degree bend of the razor I was using. And fast! You can easily save a few strokes because the blade works almost completely the first past.
A few days later, I heard the ap tap tap of my wife using some disposable razor. I asked her to try another blade on my razor, and she, too will never use a disposable razor again.
The downside: blades are expensive: over $1 each. But a warehouse club has good prices on bulk.
This totally changed the feelings I had about shaving, and I think it will for you, too.

Originally posted by UncleAdamI've got the Mach 3, not sure if it is turbo or what... it pivots and works very good.
I have a Gillette Mach 3 (its not turbo) but I like it alot and I'v only had to change blades once since I got it (more than a year ago)
UncleAdam... Wait til you get facial hair... 😉 (that is a youth joke, enjoy it while you are young) Mine lasts me about 4 or 6 shaves.
I can't grow a beard to save my life. A lot of it grows in blond, even though the hair on my head is dark... but the stuff I get on my chin is like nails. Takes me several strokes to cut through it, and the blades do take a beating.
So I shave every 3rd day or so, gives the lady something to look forward to.
Anyone ever see the SNL skit about the Mach 10 or something? It went something like...
"The first blade scares the hairs, the second blade misses and gives a false sense of security, the third blade cuts it half way to show your face who's boss, the fourth blade is there just for looks, the 5th blade cuts the hair at the base, the 6th blade pushes the hair back down, the 7 blade pulls the hair out even further..."
I forget what they say exactly, but it's pretty funny. Mach 3 saves tissue and blood!
P-
i used to use mach3, but my mum being my mum bought me the disposable 3 bladed razors form gillette (the best a man can get!) last time, so i'm stuck with them till i can get her to part with some cash...
they suck
i've still got a good-ish blade on the mach3 (i try not to use up the last blade till i've got new ones, then i don't use the old one again...😛) and used it last week. it feels so smoooooooth...my face still hurts after the last shave with the disposable ones(but i think that's cause the blades are old now...). how can they make suck an amazing razor, and such an un-amazing one?...
