My grandfather used to make a sausage with caraway seeds and garlic. It was very good, and I have no idea what it was called. He came from Czechoslovakia, if that matters. 😞

That's some serious bread. You could kill roadrunner with that thing. Good hearty pumpernickle is becoming a lost art.

I don't like Pumpernickel, but Schwarzbrot is great. That's one of the things I really miss here in Norway - you can't get good fresh Schwarzbrot here. 🙁

As a child I ate a lot of Pumpernickel despite not liking it, because my father had told us you could fly up to the roof at night if you'd eat a lot of it. 😉
