Have you ever had news that upset you in a positive way that much, you thought you were dreaming? Thinking the news never ever will come, but came anyway?

I want to know if that is possible in real life too and not just in pretty stories. I desperately need news like that.

I just want to know if I can expect the expectable unexpectability.

My advice:

Don't look forward to anything. Don't hope for anything.

When it happens it happens. Someone says they will give you something, money/job/present etc... don't look forward to it. When you have it in your hands then be thankful. Till then don't think about it. It just sets you up for disappointment.

My honest opinion, like it or not I believe in this now after many years of _____.

I wish I was. But I must not.

True, Rahim, don't expect things. Dreaming is okay, but still that is dangerous. I have learned that very well. I just desperately need things to clear up after all. If there would ever be a time in my life for a miracle to happen after all, this would be it... For now I am expecting I'll be waiting for the train that never comes.

I think it was that missile launch on where presumabely were the numbers 2, 3, 4 of Al Qaeda

And to hear the journalist telling that like a simple news.

Ok, so you got a government that publicly openly announce that they have killed people without a trial. without a jury!

A country that give itself mission to bring democracy to the world!

I was really stuned not on the act itself but the way it was presented in the media: pure propaganda

Ok aint too positive, but very stunning

I have already met those negative ones in my life. Believe me, I have not been as stunned as I was three weeks ago. Even next day when I wake up I could not believe if it really had happened...

Positive ones I want to hear!

Actually I think that everytime I happen to watch the news - thanks god as little as possible.

So what you see is:

bla bla was killed
bla bla had die
bla bla was murder

and now sport.

Is that the news? Who decide that? There's plenty of beautiful thing in the word everywhere, why do they show us only the garbage of humanity?

Some will say it's to create fear to control the population.
Dont know about that, but I am sure that this daily crap rotten your brain.

Are you talking about personal news, like that you have won in the lottery, or that the detected tumour is not malignant, or that you got your dream job?

All of the above. Just as long as it makes you gloat and cheerful for days without end. Joy++.

I have had some news which were like that, but most of them were not completely unexpected. But I remember one which I really didn't expect at all (which also means I wasn't waiting for it, so maybe that's again something different). It was when I was 16 and had an audition for a youth orchestra. I knew I was pretty much guaranteed a place, so I didn't take it very seriously, but when I was sitting there, I was suddenly a nervous rec, er, wreck, and played very badly. The next day one of the conductors called and asked if I wanted to play a solo concerto with the orchestra! Completely unexpected, especially because I had played so badly. That really felt like a dream.

Yes, the people who were soloists were also part of the orchestra in the rest of the programme. It wasn't a permanent orchestra, we practised together for a week and then had a concert. The next year you had to apply again.
