But at some point you will have sucked in everything in your area of influence and will then stop growing, so therefore have nothing to suck in. Passing matter such as comets ill be draw in, but they are too small to make the black hole significantly larger. There is also a possibility that black holes have a critical size that means they get less stable or less efficient as they get bigger. Or so I think.
Surely black holes cannot exist!
For since they suck matter in, and thus become ever larger (and thus suck in even more matter at even faster rates) the universe would be one big black hole by now??
Or is it just me?
It's in currently pretty accepted that black holes do exist. Although we can't see them directly 'evidences' like distortions of stars and energy patterns in space seem to confirm the theory.
