Does anyone have any thoughts about these? That was the subject on Nova the other night. I always knew they were out there, but I never realized how common they are. Apparently there's a mega one (also surprisingly common) at the center of our galaxy. One thing I never realized was that the light stays trapped at the center of it. For some reason I always pictured the light getting sucked in and just disappearing, as in no longer being non-existant. Crazy to think of how strong the gravity is, too, unbelievable.

And please, no anal jokes.

More curious as to what dark matter could be.

Carl Sagan ( Cosmos) did a great show about black holes.
Carl was cool. 😡

YEAH! It's not just me. πŸ˜€

edit:
What do they say....around 80-90% of the matter that makes up the universe can't even been seen. I know it's an outrageously high number.

Right, something like that.

And we have no idea what it is.

Very amazing. makes you realize just how little we actually know.

so Einstein was/is wrong. one of his conjectures is that light travels at the speed of light and it is always constant at that speed, so unless your light inside a black hole is going around in circles it must be stopped. nae light cant be stopped or it wouldn't be light. to go around in circles it must have a force acting on it, thus it must have a mass or be affected by an attracting force. which once again is not in the properties on light

I knew you knew that 😡 Just like I knew how little m/l knew all along πŸ˜€ Even Galaxative knew!

The gnus in the zoos knew, too, too true, through and through 😲 News to you to? Who knew!? πŸ˜‰

That's why physicist don't like black holes. The laws of all known physics don't apply there.

The thing about black holes is it not only squishes space, it squishes time as well so you can't talke about light stopping. BTW, light has been successfully stopped here on earth, you can make it go slower than a person walks. But dark matter is the enigma. I think of it as a mirror universe tenously connected to ours only through gravity. Wouldn't it be incredible if it was found to be analagous to our universe, dark matter galaxies, planets, life, maybe the repository of souls, if souls actually exist.
