Yes.
Nothing gets folk peeping out from behind the sofa like a sinister puppet.
'In the dim light of the fading carnival, a malevolent figure emerged from behind the grinning clown....' you get the picture.

To be creative, invoke the help of the Muses, as they have inspired artists for as long as they were created by some of those very artists.

Just remember that genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. Try using a Turkish bath to entice the genius in you to come forth, full steam.
