Hi All,
I wonder if you can help. Being an average player at the moment but with a great love of chess and a strogn desire to improve my game, can anyone recommend any good books which will help me? Ideally I am looking for books which offer a little bit of everything. Tactics, opening, middle, end, positional etc etc.
Thank you in advance.
Mike.
The best all-around books I've found:
CHESS by Laszlo Polgar
REASSESS YOUR CHESS by Jeremy Silman
LOGICAL CHESS, MOVE BY MOVE by Irving Chernev
anything by Bruce Pandolfini
and, the treats:
THE LIFE AND GAMES OF MIKHAIL TAL by M. Tal
MAMMOUTH BOOK OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST CHESS GAMES by Nunn, Burgess, Emms
BOBBY FISCHER TEACHES CHESS by B. Fischer
good luck!

It's a good way to start visualizing mate in your head.
