I was thinking about some travel this year and reading around some options. Canada seems a great place to visit but definitely NOT Nova Scotia!
All the expat forums says it’s dull, has poor weather most of the year, is full of backward thinking old people who are unfriendly due to being suspicious of newcomers. The place is expensive and has punitive taxes.
Looks like Nova Scotia is the place in Canada to dodge and head straight into Montreal, tour down to Toronto maybe around the lakes a bit and if the time and funds hold maybe an extra week in Vancouver.
@divegeester saidBeen to Montreal and Vancouver.

@divegeester saidNova Scotia has a lovely region, Cape Breton, that is well worth a visit. In spite of what some say about Montreal, it is a very cosmopolitan city and worth the time, Toronto is getting better, Vancouver is “rainy”. You really have to take a look at a map of Canada…it’s a huge country and if you are planning to travel from coast, to coast, to coast or even just the east coast and the west coast. You’ll need more time and lots of money to fully appreciate it’s beauty. Now should you get to Toronto, get in touch with me and I’ll make a point of travelling there to have a beerπΊ…or whatever, with you…on me of course. Should you decide to visit Nova Scotia, do the same with VR, I’m sure he’d also be as welcoming. We Canucks are like that, eh!

@great-big-stees saidYes it’s massive and as I said if we were to visit both east and west it would mean an extended time off of work and an internal flight. I think if we made the trip we could just do the West.

Thanks for the invite to meet up Stees. Hopefully Very Rusty won’t invite me to visit him as I’d be terrified he would duff me up.
@divegeester saidGo to Montreal or Ottawa the French speaking people there really love the English people, especially directly from England. π

You are smart not to come to Nova Scotia Although people from around the world come to see the scenery. You may run into issues If a certain someone hears an English accent and get asked a lot of questions. π
If You do decide to visit Nova Scotia I'd love to meet up with you though. I want to see how big and bad you are in person!@

Then I could take you out for Beer(s), providing you are all in one piece and don't need medical attention. I'll have coffee!
If you looked like you'd be no competition like in chess, I wouldn't bother a hair on your head providing you have any. π π

@the-gravedigger saidVancouver is way to rainy, awesome scenery and the trees make ours look like twigs.

Montreal is a pretty good city, especially if you can speak a little French. They are better about that now than say 30 years ago.

England is a place I've always wanted to visit. I don't know if I'll ever make it now with this virus going around, or if I live long enough. I am assuming we have relatives we don't even know about living here among us.
