i remember spectrum 48k, loading manic miner whilst i went for my tea, only to come back to a screen which would tell me the game has not loaded, arse. rubber keys on the keyboard, poke....

Me too. I remember one episode of Sesame Street where they explained the colours, which was quite funny to watch in black and white. But most of the time we didn't have a TV at all. But we had cassette players and had a lot of fun making weird recordings.

I remember the first Saturday morning cartoon to come out in color . It was Spiderman , and actually advertised "IN COLOR" with large letters on a test pattern type thing before the opening sequence/credits .
