he got eaten by a fat hungry pedestrian. perhaps a fat hungry lazy chess addict with a craving that could only be satisfied by a road crossing chicken.

then obviously the fat hungry chess addict with a craving for a road crossing chicken ate the chicken, and crossed to the other side of the road while no other cars were coming so the chicken couldnt even be on the other side of the road in the obese chess players belly.
