Buddy List

If you add someone on your buddy list, doesn't it override any restrictions imposed by that player? I was added by someone as a buddy who has a self imposed game limit of 3. But when I offered the challenge, it erred out with "the player has reached its game maximum of 3 games". Do I send feedback?
