Huck...go sign up to the forum of a clan (or several) in whatever online game you are playing/planning to play....ask them.. many of them (and no pun intended here) virtually live online gaming....by and large, they'll confirm what Hopscotch is saying...sure, you'll find loudly voiced preference regarding NVidia or ATI and similar, but you'll get good overall advice, and honest experience of the components you are considering...
...and as hopscotch also says....certainly better and more relevant advice than can be found here.

For this reason i plan not to farm any pieces from my current PC, so i can get help when all those yellow question marks appear π

Wasn't it HAL?

Quick question.....
I am looking to order a BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB graphics card, but i've heard a lot about running two cards at the one time.
Can someone give me an idea of the normal pairing, and is two cards really that necessary ?
"One card will be fine on it’s own, that card is really nice.
Two cards will require an SLi capable motherboard (ASUS Striker Extreme is a great board) with two 16x PCI-e slots, and the NVidia bridge connector between the two.. Both cards should be the same model/manufacturer. SLi mode can be ‘quirky’ although a correctly set up system can average around 700 F.P.S in something like Call of Duty 2. On a more modern game like say, Call of Duty 4, expect around 250 ish…
SLi is for gamers and those that have a need for high end graphics capability. Are they necessary? Depends on what you want. I want max performance from my games and ‘puter, therefore yes, I consider it necessary…."
Hope that helps Huck.

I plan to build my own PC around a quad extreme QX6800
Can anyone post some helpful sites for helpful hints, or cheap components ?
Thanks in advance.......Huck π
er...just kidding, in case there are any CIA or ASIO agents on this siteπ²
Just ordered the first parts for my new PC
EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
Getting more stuff in a couple of weeks.
Just so you know, the order i bought has nothing to do with the order i picked the parts.
