hey,
i was just wondering if someone could please help me.
i'm doing some research and a few chess moves have came up.
D35 cropped up and as i understand this is an opening move of the black player and when this moved is used, the black player cannot be beaten.
C24 also appeared and i have no idea what this move means, i have been informed that this move may have something to do with a queen.
i have no idea about chess at all...
can anyone help me? it would be greatly appretiated!!
Originally posted by researcherare you referring to d2-3 and c2-4? This would be the pawn at d2 moving to d3, and the pawn at c2 moving to c4. If this is what you are referencing, then your information is shallow and not worth pursuing. If this is a different type of notation, then I am not familiar with it and others might be able to help you.

If he don't know squat about it, he's learning not researching.
Originally posted by researcherThat's either some obscure chess notation I have never seen, or it's made up. Also, there's no opening move that means you can't be beaten (if there were, why even play?).
okay, im doing this as part of a college course.
its a media unit which is based on murders etc. the murderer is playing a game with the cops, hence the chess references.
subliminal images featured c24 and d35, written in that exact way.

This is not an insult - it is a respected 'one stop tour' for those learning chess for the first time. Do not just pick up the first chess book you see - few are for true beginners and you will gain nothing from them.
Learning chess is like learning a language, or science. You can't achieve anything by picking a few words, or symbols, and asking what they mean. To understand the answer you must have a basic framework of understanding and must approach the subject from the very beginning, and build knowledge.
Take my advice, and take your time with it, or you will forever be posting in the help forum. And just by way of an answer - the notation you use and the conclusions you draw in your specific question make no sense to me (or it seems, to others with a good understanding of the game). I would forget them, and start from scratch.
Good luck 🙂
