Does anyone know of an application that allows you to block a website for a certain time? I can't stop myself from checking my games and i have work to do 😞

Spector Pro - but it costs quite a bit.

There are some free downloads, but they mainly just block content - like popups.

The best is will power! Set yourself a target of not logging on to the site - say for 48 hours. Then reward yourself if you manage to do it.

If you don't, you will have to pay penance.

You can do it using Firefox and the extension Adblock.

I have problems with firefox, some pages don't load correctly so i stopped using it. Besides, if i blocked the site in firefox, i'd just start using IE. :'(

IM LOST, STUCK IN A SPIRAL OF CHESS ADDICTION.

Do you want me to send a PM to Russ on your behalf canceling your sub right now?

Either that or always resign on your move that would stop you playing.

Unfortunately , if you block the site yourself, you can just as easily unblock it.
You could appoint someone else as administrator and let them set up a limited account for you. They could then put RHP/RHC/CAW/TFC in your restricted sites list or block it with a firewall.
Maybe it would work until you demanded the admin password from them.

Let someone you trust change your password and e-mail address (so that you can't ask for your password) and log out. He/she/xe can change it back when you want to come back.

can you work without the connection? if so, pull the plug! better yet, work somewhere with no possible internet access if you can.

If you absolutely need your connection, then I'm afraid the only solution is willpower and dicipline. :-/

I can't stop myself either. I've set up 'limits' for myself several times, but none of them have worked for more than 1-2 days. I find myself more and more like 'harvey white' in the hubert selby novel 'the demon'.

It can't be so difficult. There must be someone out there who could knock up a little program that let's you block the site for a set a time period?? I'm sure this problem is endemic of the internet...

just do what nordlys said and get someone you trust to change your password for a period you specify. i'm sure xe's onto something here, but whatever you do don't give it to that women you were talking about as she'll proberbly never give it back! 😠.
