Thanks for the invitation, Drewnogal. Since I'm neither Pyschologically, Medically
nor Academically Oualified, think it's probably best to decline comment for now.

I know that I chose a funny name when I joined this site.
But I don't know anything about the porn industry apart from
the fact that it makes millions and millions and is purely for
    entertainment purposes.

    Advantages and disadvantages? No idea.

I suppose the actors, especially the females can make tons of money.
But at what cost? Maybe they don't care about what others say about
    them.

I value my privacy even worse than Howard Hughes ever did.
I could never subject myself to that sort of exposure.

The disadvantages of having pornography, so much of it aggressive, being readily accessible to teenagers, has yet to be realized in full. But I think the younger generation's cultural shift towards retarded sexuality is part of that. I place the blame firmly on the male sex and its constant need for ejaculation.

Well I am all for personal hygiene.

But I don't think that porn can help relationships.

    It's not always about sex.

    What's that noise???????

    I have noticed that Viagra,
( which is a medical treatment in pill form for older males generally )
is now the drug of choice for younger males.

Viagra is as common in pubs and clubs now as cocaine
    used by males 20-35.

It is being used as a recreational drug rather than one of medical necessity.

I have no idea, I never asked them.

But there is no doubt that prolonged usage of these drugs
Alcohol, Cocaine and Viagra will only serve to harm them
in the end. Plus you have the counter actions of amphetamines
    versus narcotics.

Alcohol is a depressant and Cocaine has the opposite effect.
Cocaine effects include increased alertness, increased heart
and pulse rate, more desire for energetic activity and decreased
    appetite.

I find that hard to believe.

I don't think there's anything wrong with 15 year olds watching porn, don't get me wrong. We used to have the "bag o' fun" out our friend's dad's house and see magazines all the time. But that's a different type of porn then what can be found these days. Nowadays, a lot of porn is heavy on the rough stuff and I think that's what might do the damage to boys and girls alike.

EDIT - That had to be awkward.

    It's true.

Viagra is now used as commonly as coke
by men in that age group now attending
nightclubs in most western European cities.

Viagra can have other uses too.

Have a look at this link.

Neither or those tabloid articles verify your claim that it's as common as cocaine use or that it is "the drug of choice". I don't doubt that it is regularly being misused amongst younger people.

    Prefatory quote from the song:

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
    But now, God knows,
    Anything Goes.

I wonder if porn would be all that it is, (including a money maker) in a society that didn't repress but instead accepted consensual sex acts of any kind (Edit: and public nudity etc.) between and among those deemed competent to consent.

I wonder if sex itself would be all that it is, in such a society.

If such things as a glimpse of stocking can be eroticized, if not to say fetishized, as a result of repressing them, I wonder about cultures that hide women away and I imagine that the men are quite easily aroused by things men in other cultures are quite blase about.

Edit: I don't mean to imply that women's and men's roles in these considerations are fundamentally different. That's a separate discussion.

    Oh, please.

Even when they choose to act in porn women are portrayed as victims or objectified. They use men as much as men use them. Get real.

Look at the TV shows and movies geared toward women. It's all about men, relationships, and sex. 'Sex in the City', 'Cougartown', 'The Bachelor/Bachelorette', 'Real Housewives of...' etc etc

They want it more than we do. They just won't admit it.

My views on girls was distorted by 1960's TV shows. I thought girls didn't want you to be 'too forward' and on the first date you were lucky to go as far as holding hands...and don't you dare kiss before the second date. Then when I did start dating, girls were extremely aggressive and some got upset if we didn't have sex the first night.

Of course, I was very good-looking when I was young.
