Canada Border Services Agency

General

Yesterday I got a call from them (I knew it was a scam) saying that they had intercepted a package addressed to me that, on close inspection was found to contain something that caused a warrant to be issued fir my immediate arrest and I should push the #1 on my cell, to talk to an agent. I did as asked and sure enough an “agent”, picking up on an accent, that wasn’t...well North American, I spoke to them in French, sounding very distressed, asking how I could avoid arrest. The “agent” asked me in English, and I kid you not (remember, this is the CANADIAN Border Services Agency and any governmental agency is required to be able to speak both official languages) “What language I was speaking”. When I replied, with indignation, in French that it was French, she hung up. I am awaiting the knock at my door by the police.😥🤭

Be careful doing that experiment my friend. By pressing 1 you can discover that you called back on a premium rate line.

My cell plan allows for “free” long distance in Canada and the area code was for a Canadian province, but thanks for your advice.👍

Edit: I’m assuming it, the advice, was free...right?🤔🤭

Yean but you see when you press 1 or whatever it can transfer you to another number plus even if it's a local number doesn't mean they're not actually calling from Bhutan.

That'll be $100, Bill sent in the post.

@Great-Big-Stees

I got a call once. 3 years ago.

Him...Sir! The police are coming to arrest you because you owe taxes! (Thick accent)

Me...What are you talking about?

Him...You owe money to Revenue Canada and they are on the way to arrest you but you can pay and I will tell them not to arrest you.

Me...I just spent 20 years in the states and the last 8 years was in prison. I just got back to Canada. I can beat that in court.

Him...(Hangs up)

Me...(Calls mom who worked for Revenue Canada for 30 years and she says it's a scam)

It did raise my heart rate I will admit that.

Now when "they" call I use my thick accent to sound like them and they get so mad 😄

How would I know?
After almost a decade in prison the world is different when you get out.

To give you some perspective consider this...
When I went in my cellphone only had talk and text.
When I got out cellphones are like small computers.
When I went to prison you drove your car.
When I got out a car can drive itself.

Also, how would I know if someone used my identity while I was gone and actually did owe money to the goobermint?

A lot changed in those ten years.

Did you find incarceration a pain in the ass that left a bad taste in your mouth?
