Actually, I once heard a tale of a Canadian city where 2 women brought a court case against the city, argueing for the right to walk around topless.
Their main argument was that men on building sites were allowed to and if they couldn't then it was sexual discrimination.
The women won the case and thus, there is a city in Canada, where the women walk around topless on warm summer afternoons.
Maybe it's just an urban mythe though...

Nice article, you do realize it's over 40 years old, right?
Were the antibiotics you spoke of produced by an American company in Canada? How did the government interfere in the dealings of a private company like you say they did?
I can't remember your second question. It was on the BBC.
I checked their website, this is what I could find:

It's basically the court case that triggered the backing down of the Canadian government. But as for the official "back down", I'm at a loss at the moment.

The Canadians have no backbone.
Not in general, I'm obviously talking about the political leaders.
Cuba needs anti-biotics and Canada offered to supply it.
But as soon as Canada's boss (the US) said: "If you do, you'll be sorry!" They backed down like the beaten dogs they are.
I have no respect for them, what-so-ever!

There's others, including lots on the Hurricane Michelle clean-up.
The topless ruling hasen't changed behavior much, although I was flashed by some teens shortly after the ruling took effect. *meh*

Pretty risky business, if you ask me. Also, the man's sentence was reduced from 205 years in prison to less than 5 years. I'm not sure how you expect the Canadian government to upset diplomatic ties over a shady businessmen with his hand too deep in the cookie jar.

So, in conclusion, stop talking out your ass and go recycle some of your old threads, you beaver-hater!

True patriot love in all thy sons command.

The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Canadians are brave. I don't know of another culture around that can live in a country that stinks that bad and still leave their homes. I was thoroughly disgusted when I walked up St. Catherine's st in Montreal. Not only does it stink, but its filthy and filled with condoms, hors, seringes, bums, trash, std's and a menagerie of other vile things. Yes, brave. To live like that, they must be... or just plain stupid.

okay idiot, first of all, if you think montreal is all Canada has to offer, well your fuk*n stupid. Come to Calgary Alberta, and see how beautiful we are, or to anywheres outside of Quebec and see how beautiful it is, and dont dis the country just because we actually have balls to send aid or try to stop global warming. How about the millions in aid we send out every year and yet Alberta Still produces a surplus of 8 billion dollars. Thats right, we are brave, cuz we can sit back and listen to the common stereotypes that America runs us, hate to break it to you, while they are 100s of billions of dollars in debt, with a week economy, and resources drying up, Canada has never looked stronger, and who runs who, where does alotta your oil, cattles, agricultural, and good beer come from, thats right! Oh CANADA! So grow a brain, its a proven fact Canadians are 25% smarter then Americans. Our health care system is better, we employ more doctors all over the world then the U.S and any other country combined. So Blow my red leaf as*
