I went to the cinema today, wanting a ticket for the opening of Bond.
Only to find out that it opens next week in Holland instead of today.
I was close to tears, but held my head up high, pointed a finger at cashier and said in my poshest accent: "We'll meet again, you, you, you...Blowfeld, you!"
Anyways, with only one week to go before I spend a fortnight at the cinema (like when Revenge of the Sith came out), I thought it would be prudent, nay wise, to start a thread on Bond.
Let's hear your opinion on matters which really count!
1. Favourite Bond
Now, I know I'll get flame-grilled like a bad guy in a black suit toting a Russian machine gun (or as grilled as an enterprise crew member dressed in red) for saying this, but my favourite Bond is Roger moore.
It's a difficult call, but Connery was really before my time and I find those films look a little dated (doesn't stop me watching them though. Dr. No's on tonight).
I loved Brosnan as well though. This new Bond reminds me a bit of Dalton, which I find slightly to serious.
That's why I loved Moore. The comical element suited him.
2. Favourite Bond song
I like the Bond theme best. Followed by Gold finger and For your eyes only.
3. Favourite Bond girl
Difficult. Probaly Famke Janssen, but I thought Grace Jones was sexy in a dangerous (dangerous as in you wouldn't introdue her to your parents) way.
4. Favourite Q gadget
Difinately the car ejector seat. Many a time I've wished for one of them.
I liked the cigarette with the built in jet propelled rocket, but I don't smoke.
5. Favourite Bond film
I really don't know. Probably Gold finger or Live and let die.
I know, I know, I really shouldn't be doing anything "top 5y", but it's Bond. BOND I TELLS YA!!!
And everyone loves Bond, surely?
Originally posted by shavixmirI think Dalton was great in the first film, but the second (License to Kill) was just such a poor film it finished him. Same with Brosnan - great first film but by the end he was rightly shown the door. Same going to happen to Craig?
Could be.
I think I'd go for On Her Majesty's Secret Service though.
Just because I thought Lazenby was greatly underrated.

But, that doesn't really say all that much, I find even the most tedious Bond films highly amusing (thinking of Moonraker here).
Originally posted by shavixmirIm not too sure Lazenby was underated, I myself thought he was a second rate actor who asked for a pathetic amount of money to be Bond hence the reason he only starred in one film

I thought that it might be a good idea to have all the Bond films listed.
According to this list,* there are 22 "official" James Bond films. "The 'official' James Bond films have been produced by Eon Productions and producer Cubby Broccoli, later succeeded by producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. Films not produced by them are considered 'unofficial'. "
Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Diamonds Are Forever
Live and Let Die
The Man with the Golden Gun
The Spy Who Loved Me
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Octopussy
A View to a Kill
The Living Daylights
Licence to Kill
GoldenEye
Tomorrow Never Dies
The World is Not Enough
Die Another Day
Casino Royale (2006)
"Bond 22" (2008)
Other films featuring James Bond as a character, or written by Ian Fleming, are:
Casino Royale (TV program, 1954 starring Barry Nelson)
Casino Royale (1967, starring David Niven and Peter Sellers)
Never Say Never Again (1983, starring Sean Connery)
Goldeneye (1989) & Spymaker (1990), films about the life of Ian Fleming
* Just so everyone understands, this is not my argument over what is an official or unofficial Bond film. In my opinion, Never Say Never Again is clearly a Bond film, but I could understand how it could be argued that it is not an "official" Bond film.

Brosnan. He had it all, the looks, the moves, the jokes, the poised toughness. Sorry, Connery fans but if Brosnan had been given better scripts to work with he'd be perfect. He did great in such conditions and he's followed quite closely by Moore and Connery.
2. Favourite Bond Song
Definitely Goldfinger with Shirley Bassey.
3. Favourite Bond Girl
Jane Seymour
4. Favourite Q gadget
The fake nipple. For obvious reasons. 😵
The mini-submarine that looks like a crocodile gets a honourable mention.
5. Favourite Bond Film
Goldfinger or The Spy Who Loved Me.
Originally posted by shavixmirYeah, my ex wife's uncle was a massive Moore fan, even when he was in The Saint, he told me that George was binned because he asked for an absurd amount and didnt get to star as Bond again. It might tell you if you google it.
This I'd never heard.
But the film, itself, is very good.
1. Favorite Bond.
Connery. His films are simply superior to all others. He would be followed by Dalton. Then, Moore and Lazenbury (about equal in my opinion) and, finally, Brosnan. Let me say that this is not Brosnan's fault. His movies were terrible. They didn't make sense.
2. Favorite Bond Song
Goldfinger
3. Favorite Bond Girl
Ursula Andress
4. Favourite Q gadget
The 'Pen Gun' in Never Say Never. I liked that it didn't work right away.
5. Favourite Bond Film
Goldfinger

In my opinion, the best Bond, so far, is Sean Connery.
Though he was before my time, I found Moore's movies to be inferior to Connery's (so this may not be entirely Roger's fault). This was particularly obvious to me when Octopussy and Never Say Never Again were released at, or around, the same time. Never Say Never Again was simply much better.
...[text shortened]... obvious that his films were better than Moore's. I am interested to hear what others think.
Connery is my favourite for just one scene alone. Can't remember which film it is (😠) but near the start I think he plants some explosives, then takes off his wetsuit and strolls into the bar in his dinner jacket, lights a cigarette then Boom! The look on his face saying 'what's all the fuss about?' when people are running arouns screaming is pure class!
