Is your attempt to castle legal? Moving the King two spaces is the
correct method, but the program will not allow you to make an illegal
move. What is the game number?

Looks to me like you should have been able to castle on move 8 in
game 35000, on the Kingside.

You might want to send a feedback to chrismo or ruzzman and have
them take a look at it...

Yep. That should of been OK (assuming the move was king side!). I
will try to replicate that and see if a problem exists. (This is the first
report of it if it is)

hello:

kingside castleing: when you castle, your path must be clear, from
your king to rook. your king moves two spaces, and your rook, cross's
over your king two spaces also. you cant castle, if it will leave your
rook in danger(about to be taken) and you can't castle, if your king is
in check, or you have moved it. kingside castling, is when you go to
the side of the king, which would be written like this in it's notation, "
0-0 ." you can't castle, if, when you do, your king is in check!! you can
only castle, when it doesn't endanger your king or your rook!!

Queenside castleing: some of the above, but it is written like this in
notation, " 0-0-0." when you castle queenside, your king moves two
squares, and your rook cross's over your king; it moves " three!!"
squares. after this, it is best, on your next half move, to move your
king over one, and protect that isolated pawn!!

I hope this makes it easy for all those that are learning!! this is how
you would do it on a board...in here, just move your king two spaces
kingside, or two spaces queenside, and the server will do the rest. but,
it wont allow you to do it, if there is danger to either king or rook, so,
it is best to look, and try and extinguish, the danger first!!

for the beginners out there...here is something you could try!! on the
kingside, be it white or black!! four moves, and you will have castled!!
on the right side of white or black(the board) move your second pawn:
first move: out one square...on your next move, bring your bishop out
one square, to the space that the second pawn was; into its new little
home, which is called a " fianchetto;" it is like a little house!! next,
move your knight out to just two spaces above, where your bishop
was!! and then you castle!! if you are playing a beginner, this will work,
but, if you are playing somone in the know, they will probably throw
the pawns down to try and destroy your fianchetto, and they will castle
queenside. but, it will work on beginners!! the half move notation for
this as white is, " b3...Bb2...Nc3...0-0!!" well, it is a start!! i hope you
enjoy trying!! remember, this isn't the best way to play, but, if you are
a beginner, it is safe!! remember, castle early...get him out of harms
way!!

slan...

imp..

ps: for all the " aged " players out there...yes, it is best to learn
openings, and attack the centre, but, for an absolute beginner, this is
a good way to play, if playing another absolute beginner. they can
learn the rest later!!
