I was taught that it was rude to talk to one's opponent while playing a game OTB Is it OK to chat while playing a game here?

No it's absolutly against the rules, all chatting should be removed from the site!

Some like to chat, and others don't. If your opponent isn't sending any replys to your messages, it's a good bet that they don't want to chat. When you start a game, just say a few words and see how it goes.

Also keep in mind that this is an international community and not everyone understands your language. So if you don't get a reply to a comment or question, it doesn't automatically mean your opponent is being rude.

It's a friendly group here, and most players will at least say a few words.

Yeah, some are complete...son of guns, whilst others are good to talk to things.
