In America a person has the right to voice their opinion - anyway we had that right before the Bush administration took over.

He and people like him should learn to bow down to their overlord.

I think its disgusting.. what an outrage
The sort of thing you would expect in a dictatorship.
Of course that is "if" the law suit allegation is true.

Dictatorships are developing everywhere as politicians
demand more power to get things done in there term of office.

In the back room it's social engineering policies that are becoming the most devious tools of dictators. As they make more and more of our freedoms illegal and pick on more and more target groups.

I think it's a cute story. Too bad that there are people out there in America that think this was justified. I think it is just par for the course.

People really need to remember how many people died fighting for the rights they so easily give up out of fear and ignorance. They need to remember why.

How many people will have to die in the future to get back those rights is what I want to know.

Right on! Someone once said that "America will fall from within." I think I understand that now. Personally, I blame the stupid people in America who say things like, "God has a plan for you" and "Support our troops". These are the people that the government loves because these people can't think for themselves. These are the people who are more interested in watching sports, or American Idol than what their government is doing.

Troop movements are all about votes and business. The current US Govt is wanting to go for the gungho patriot vote. I read that not one US politician had a child in Iraq... ??

Our current Govt in NZ is the opposite tending to the centre left who don't like America unless you buy our biodynamically grown organic produce.

We haven't got many troops and they are already in quite a few countries on peacekeeping support work. So our lot do can't play heavy on the world scene.

We do play social engineering.. The centre left like to buy votes with welfare money for beneficiaries..they can't bully them so they pick on smokers, fatties and any other group they think they can without losing too many votes.

Have you noticed the world trend towards treating fast food like tobacco and liquor with pending; age restrictions, advertising bans and tax hikes.

Pretty soon anyone over 10kgs overweight will have to wear arm band with a big fat icon. They won't be allowed Big Macs and will have to go to health camps if they don't get down under limit within a month..

Last year they wanted to tax farmers cow farts to pay our dues for the Kyoto Protocol. (Seriously!!! thats true) They pulled the pin on that idea when an opposition mp drove his tractor up parliament steps.. haha

Its dog eat dog in this "You Sir Pay" western world of ours and the dog had better have been be killed in govt meat works before you eat it.

Yes, and the Bush administration is also talking to Tony Blair because they want to implement forced vaccinations to everyone in Europe and the US. It's "on hold" till after the elections for now, but if the Republicans win then there will suddenly be a "flu epidemic" and the government will then make special rules to "protect the people" by isolating groups of people and restricting movement.

Incidentally, if you look up the history of the great flu epidemic in 1918, you will discover that the only people who died were the people that received vaccinations.

This problem does not just affect the people in the US. If we lose the war against big government here the Europeans will also fall.

How about the cliche "The Constitution is alive and well." or "Democracy is alive and well." I hate cliche's because they sound good but most are crap when you really think about them.

I voted Green at the last election as I disagree with Labour on a few key points but really National is the greater of two evils here. Tax breaks for the rich, reduction of health care budgets and social policies and a wish to remove steps forward (civil union bill, and removal of enviromental safeguards) all led by a man who will accuse his opponent of "not being a proper wife" because she doesn't have children, claims to believe in "family values" (whatever the hell they are) despite having destroyed one marriage by having an affair and nearly done so to his second.

"According to the lawsuit filed at U.S. District Court in Denver, Howards and his son walked to about two-to-three feet from where Cheney was standing, and said to the vice president, "I think your policies in Iraq are reprehensible," or words to that effect, then walked on. "

this guy is an idiot ...

why would he think he could get away with that?

freedoms like this are only available in countries where human rights have deep meaning.

- imagine if Howards and his son were Iraqis in Iraq saying this ??????

Oh don't get me wrong.. I can't stand nats..they would follow Bush and Blair like a sheep. I don't have the answers but hate the social engineering which is becoming the silent dictatorship method. I am on less than $15/hr and have come very close to the dole queue a couple of times .. it isn't fun getting kicked around like a political football. (pardon cliche)

Per Arrakis's latest post next compulsory vaccinations ... I think they are heading down that road here but the greens are against it so it would never get through under mmp.

This is such a tiny country we all know several mps .. I've done the dishes with our pm and she's handy with a tea towel...lol

Arrakis is a nutcase who believes that the Bush government blew up the WTC with missiles on purpose. Don't listen to a word he says about anything.
I'd support compulsory vaccinations for a variety of things. Most of the information people cite when they claim that vaccinations are unsafe is utterly wrong. And anyway, vaccinations have a threshold (percentage of the population) below which they stop working for anyone (if you are the only person to be vaccinated you gain no benefit). If the stupid headcases all stop their families from getting their vaccinations they are putting the sensible people at greater risk. But hey, let's get polio back, that was great fun.

EDIT: My MP is a fag so he's going to burn in hell.

Personal freedoms and the erosion of them I thought was worth comment in this thread.

If someone walks up to a politician and says they disagree with them and they get arrested for assault/harassment that's low.

Most can see the merit in vaccination for many serious diseases but come near me with needle for something I disagree with and try to force me to bend over and you may have a serious problem.

Next you would want all sufferers of disease in an isolation camp reminiscent of leper colonies. Then you’ll have another one for all those who disagree with you.

It’s a terrible road that George Orwell predicted many years ago.
We have too many laws and too many with axes to grind making a nuisance of themselves in politics.
