Personal freedoms and the erosion of them I thought was worth comment in this thread.

If someone walks up to a politician and says they disagree with them and they get arrested for assault/harassment that's low.

Most can see the merit in vaccination for many serious diseases but come near me with needle for something I disagree with and try to force ...[text shortened]... have too many laws and too many with axes to grind making a nuisance of themselves in politics.
Thing is there isn't a vaccine out for being an old fat git so you're safe. It's children that need the vaccinations.

We have laws about infectious diseases for a reason you know. And actually in certain situations (under a state of emergency) a health officer is empowered to issue quarantine orders and have them enforced by law enforcement. Is that a bad thing?

I agree. What I don't understand is why there are so many people in America who can't see what the Bush administration is doing to our country.

After the News announced there were no weapons of mass destruction Bush showed his ugly face on the tube and said, "They hate us because of our freedom", and then he said the war in Iraq was to free the Iraqi's and fight terrorists. He's killing 100 of their citizens a day! What kind of freedom is that?

And just today we found out that, on appeal, the government will be allowed to continue to tap all phone lines, emails and messages sent overseas. That means they are even intercepting this message. How long will it be before they start taking people's computers because someone wrote something they didn't like?

In America a person has the right to voice their opinion - anyway we had that right before the Bush administration took over.
We do have freedom of speach in America, but the US government does what it wants. Even if it is not legal. If you do not believe me then go ask the Sioux Nation how they feel about the treaty law agreement they had with the US government.

Actually... the Bush administration can force Russ to give out whatever confidential information he may have about anyone who is a registered user on his site. They've already done that with your phone company. 😲

Well, when you think about it... if you wanted to plant someone within an agency you wouldn't want them to appear as Phlabibit! 😉 Yeah, if I were going to plant an agent to spy on people I'd have them act like an a-hole and a radical... kinda like XanthosNZ does.

Last time I heard Russ was not an American. Perhaps shut down his server in Texas.

Even more reason for the Bush administration to be interested in our internet transmittals. We could be planning an attack.😕

Hey, if the guy can put a load of birdshot into his own lawyer's ass and not get charged with it, why should anything else surprise you?

Just remember, he has no interest in Haliburton any more. Some friends of mine over there say they built a huge military base west of Iraq...complete with theatres, Pizza Hut and restaurants, for our troops...does it look like we'll ever leave there? He has one fat paycheck for himself...they did not even bid that contract and just gave it to Haliburton....POLITICS

He'll just retire after the next election and live comfortably on his multi million dollar estate near the Grand Tetons....while our boys keep getting wacked in Iraq.

I think it took around 56,000 casualties for us in Vietnam before the public finally got pissed enough to "protest" and end that war.

You can't force Democracy down people's throats if they don't want it.

Don't get me wrong, the troops are the best...it's the politicians making these brilliant foreign policy decisions. One of my best friends is sitting in the hospital with half his face blown away...a vegetable....thanks to us "liberating Iraq".

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. From what I can tell there are around 10,000 solders who have critical wounds from this senseless war. Many of them with no arms or legs. Of course the Bush administration keeps this hush-hush in America.

By the way, I'm a gambler. I play poker and since I live only 60 miles from a casino in Canada I used to go there often. A couple of years ago I'd plop down $2000 in American money and get $3000 back in Canadian.

But guess what? Canadian money is rated 112% to American now. When I asked the girl at the casino why and how that happened she told me, "because your stupid president spent billions in money that your country doesn't have!"

True story.
