I belong to two bridge clubs where we play duplicate bridge for about 3
hours in an evening - involving about 40 - 60 people. We also have
teams that play other clubs.
Is there a normal format for an evening at a Chess club? I'm thinking
mainly about the UK but would be interested to know if there are
differences in other countries.
Also what sort of RHP rating would an average club player have?
Rhymester
yes i am ionterested too. how do clubs organise themselves worldwide.
yes what would the average chess club member be worth in rhp points.
im sure that rhymester can name a chess club member. i know of a
few. SO how about it ! please tell! maybe just publish your local clubs
itenerary for day/night ! anything! but in particular how members of
the club go about SELECTING AN OPPONENT. there may be some
useful advice that rhp members could use. or is it giving "YOUR GAME"
away! ive never been able to join a chess club but always thought it
THE best way to play chess! until RHP.
this is true there are many chess clubs in australia but none locally! if
there was id join. it takes about 7 days (10hrs a day@ 60 mph
(100km) to drive the lenght of the eastern sea board and about 5-6
days to drive the width! a long way to travel for a game of chess on
the pushbike :-) at my age!
My experience of a chess club - for what its worth. About 80-100
members - probably about 15-20 juniors. Ran about 5 teams in the
local league. Average night involved standing at the bar drinking
while juniors played one another. Occasional game against whoever
was around - often blitz. Normally there was a league for people who
were interested- 30min to an hour on the clock. 2-3 times a year there
was a tournament - either 5 min blitz or 10 sec per move ran on a
swiss system. I would describe myself as an average standard UK
club player but a bit rusty.
