I have a tattoo on my left forearm. In the business world I always wore long sleeve shirts. At social functions I told a weak story about a drunken night in the military. I personally see nothing wrong with tattoos. Society feels differently. Weigh your wants against the demands of your social and business peers. It can have a definite factoring in your life.

1) Make sure you like the artwork as you have it for the rest of your life.
2) Make sure the tattooist can tattoo! You generally get what you pay for.

Don't do it. Do not get inked, unless you have a job that requires a name badge or a hair net and plan on staying in that type of work. Ever notice that it's the people who work at car washes and mini-marts with tattoos? Now think about people you see in higher levels of employment...how often do they have gargoyles or whatever drawn on their forearms?

PS Ignore anyone who tries to dissuede you from getting the tattoo. I don't have one yet, but will definitely be getting one, and I don't work at McDonalds or a carwash. My wife also has a little artwork, and between our careers, we make a pretty good living 😉
