I thought of a great idea, what about a feature that only allows you to make forum posts when you have played a certain number of moves - it would help encourage more chess to be played and less moaning.

Who will be my sidekick in the quest to make this a reality?

Nobody ever goes in there, though, I thought it be better to have some feedback here first and then propose it if there is alot of intrest.

Do you like the plan, mr handler?

Actually, I do like the idea.

edit: It's ok to call me Pawny. No need for formality! 😀

are you talking daily...monthly... or total moves?

edit.. and you can call me Mr Epic

Also, it has a nice side effect of preventing people from creating accounts just to post in the forums without actually playing games - thereby cutting out spammers, and advertisers.

I was thinking maybe monthly - then people would be able to make a post if they were away for a few days if they saved up some moves.

It usually would be, the post button was a bit slow here and I pressed it twice, thinking it was not registered.

But not spam on the same level as somebody flooding the forums with the same post hundreds of times in a night.

What about Sir Adam Of Lock, for a honourable name

Tychex, here's a thought that might be fair, balanced and workable...

(1) Forget moves. Too large a numerator. Instead, use completed games.

(2) Take a page out of the policy governing 'Recommendations' allotement, which is accrued with the passage of time.

(3) Treat completed games as credits. Debit 5-10 for each thread, 1 for each post.

(4) Whole point is to prevent interlopers and to elevate RHP General Forum participation from an expected 'right' to an earned priviliged.
