No, I'm not an expert. I just work in the web industry so I have to know a bit about internet browsers.

I have a question then...Some say their ff is slow starting...Mine seems quick as a flashing whip...Why would some be slow and others not be?

It's hard to say, could be any number of reasons.

From what I've heard, the most common issues for Firefox being slow are a lack of resources available to run it (ie: crap computer or lots of other programs running), too many Plugins and Extensions installed, a corrupt profile, or just that they haven't cleaned out the cache/cookies in years.

There are pictures here how to clear your cache if FF is slow to start up. http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2009/07/workaround-for-firefox-3-5-slow-startups-on-windows/

That post was related to a bug in Firefox v3.5 which was subsequently fixed in v3.5.1.

As most people are on v3.5.3 now, you can give it a try but I doubt it will do anything.

The key point was a picture on how to "clear your cache". Explaining something as simple as "clearing your browser cache" is not so simple as most people need to be "hand-held" when it comes to computers.

I'm using firefox 3.0.3 with 23 add-ons and (by today's standards) a pretty average PC, and I have no complaints about slow loading times for firefox. It's not an instantaneous start-up like Chrome, but I can wait the HUGE one second for my preferred browser to load, also I get really annoyed when I have to use another browser or computer for some time that doesn't have my essential add-ons.

I will admit that if I have 50 content-heavy tabs open then things get a bit sluggish, but that doesn't happen very often.

In fact a message has just popped up on Firefox

Add-ons may be causing problems and it will disable the .NET extension and the Windows Framework assistant. These addons are the ones that cause problems not FF itself.
