i just did an informal survey of my fridge, pantry, and fruit bowl, and discovered that, without realising it, i seem to have built a possible addiction to citrus food products. here's what i found:

limes (fresh);
lime juice (bottle);
lime pickle;
lime marmalade;
mandarin and orange marmalade;
orange juice;
orange cordial (including orange juice);
lemon cordial (including lemon juice);
preserved lemon;
lemon sorbet;
citrus cheesecake-flavoured yoghurt.

ok, i have to confess here that i'm thinking of becoming a citrean. citreans are like vegetarians or vegans, except they subsist entirely on meals including a high-percentage of citrus-related products. in practice this isn't as difficult as it might sound, as even thinks like meat marinated in citrus juices are allowed.

I made a Thai salad last night - a big big bowl needed. It sounds like it wouldn't work - but it does. Wife was well impressed.

Can't get large Spanish onions here - but 2 recommended, or 4 normal. Sliced very fine lenght ways.
2 carrots, sliced the same.
4 cloves of garlic, fine chopped.
5 chillies - finely chopped.
1/2 pineapple fresh, sliced into chunks.
1/2 papaya finely chopped.
1/2 apple finely chunked.
4 lychees... finely sliced.
1 bottle of salad cream(Heinz will do)
1/2 a red cabbage - chopped and sliced.
2 lemons and limes - squeezed with pips removed.
1 aubergine - finely chopped.
1 cucumber - finely chopped.
1 avocado - finely sliced.
5 or 6 button mushrooms - sliced finely.

All raw - no cooking.

Pepper in a mass, salt in a small amount.

Place in bowl - mix like mad - put in freezer for 1 hour to freeze.

Mosquito repellant after shower, sit outside at table in the evening sun, grab a beer, somw cooked pork and chicken,

Lettuce on plates fresh from chilled fridge. Scoop the salad onto lettuce and avaiable plate space. Add sliced pork and chicken on top.

DELIGHT! MMMMMMMMM. 🙂

For the citrus addict - squeeze 1 lemon and 1 lime all over after the food is laid out.

This sounds fantastic except for the raw aubergine. Raw? Really?
