After splitting two ugly, error filled games, the Yanks and the Sox played a great one today. Both Randy Johnson and Tim Wakefield had their best stuff (Wakefield had a career high in strikeouts) but the Yanks won 1-0 on Jason Giambi's early homer. Mariano Rivera didn't look like he wanted much to do with Ortiz and Ramirez late (walking both), but he managed to nail down the win. The Sox's lead is down to three games with a end of the year series in Fenway in a few weeks. Baseball in September; gotta love it!
No1... What were they talking about Gabe Capler apologizing to Torri for doing something? They were waiting to see if Randy was going to bean him one... I missed it. Something to do with yesterdays game... or first inning of todays game.
Do you have any idea what they were talking about? Something about an unswritten rule of sorts.
Anyway... great game today and Wakefield got 12 K's. I love watching his ball in slow motion when he's got his stuff. Too bad he gave up one run... but he usually gives up 3 or 4 at a time so 1 wasn't bad.
Now I guess we have 3 more in Fenway...
Woot!

My grandson was here and I wasn't able to hear a lot of the commentary (that's generally a good thing). Hopefully those three at the end will mean something; we still have to win some games against those Tampa Bay SOBs.

Gabe did something 'wrong'... they were talking about him 'running'. I didn't catch it all, and it's killing me to know what the heck he did to have to actually tell the other team 'sorry'.
Gah!
I don't know what would be better... being 2 games up or down on the yanks at the end... or just having already passed them by 4 or more games by the time they play... I'm no Yankee fan... I'm not spoiled by stupid ring after ring after ring...
😛

Kapler stole second in the ninth Saturday with Boston leading 9-2. Old timers consider it bush league to steal a base under those circumstances, but I'm not sure that really applies anymore in these offensive minded eras. Anyway, that was what the whole squabble was about. BFD as far as I'm concerned.
Ah... that is a 'no no'. I don't think Johnny Damon or Jeeter would do something like that. Gabe isn't really known for his speed, I don't think... so perhaps he got excited.
Also... teams like Sox and Yankees can get 8 runs in an inning sometimes... so perhaps they should agree to take all the runs they can get.

Perhaps I'll act like a Yankee fan and send an email saying they should have beaned him right in the @$$. Just to get everyone bickering on the radio. Ha!

I've seen so many more people wearing Red Sox hats since they won the world series. Where were you people BEFORE they won?
Originally posted by UmbrageOfSnowI used to live in Boston, so I'd expect to see a lot of Sox fans there. Actually, I lived right next to Fenway. I live in Northern CA now. You wouldn't believe all the new bandwagon Sox fans here.
Well where do you live, there were tons of Sox fans in Mass and New Hampshire before that. I don't know about anywhere else.
