Originally posted by chessisdisciplineBeen collecting for many years. The $1 American Silver Eagles are my favorite, used to be Franklin Halves. They started minting them in 1986 and are one ounce of .9993 fine silver. I just started collecting them and figure that you cannot go wrong with silver. I also have a bunch of other coins from all around the world. That Canadian $2 coin is one of my favorites.

I have been collecting for a few years, mostly in silver coins.
I have lots of silver eagles, together with several denominations of foreign silver coins. I have a roll of twenty Peace Dollars and a roll of 20 Morgan dollars. I also have a Trade dollar, a Bust Dollar worth $700, and several rolls of silver half dollars, quarters, and dimes, which I purchased at bullion value.
One of my favorite coins is an enlarged silver eagle which ways one pound.
I also have a one once gold eagle worth just under $1000.
>I used to collect coins, Canadian coins, when I was a kid. Virtually all my allowance went into my coin collection. This was during the days when you could still find Queen Victoria coins in change. My dad was a banker as well as treasurer of our church, so I got to see a lot of coins and I would examine all interesting ones with a high powered magnifying glass.
>Eventually I had a complete collection of nickels, including the 1925 and the 2 varieties of 1926, complete small cents and was missing only a very few large cents, complete dimes and quarters from 1900 and many before that, and a complete silver dollar collection in uncirculated condition including the 1948 (only 18,000 were minted). I had no 50 cent pieces, but I had many of the small silver 5 cent pieces. I had a lot of Queen Victoria coins, my favourite being the 1875-H quarter which is almost impossible to obtain now.
>I also had a collection of bills, mostly George VI bills, Queen Elizabeth "devil's face" bills, and a bunch of asterisk bills, all in uncirculated condition except for the George VI ones.
"I had one 1912 $10 gold piece too.
>All my coins were in EF condition or uncirculated condition except for many of the Queen Victoria ones, because I was always on the look-out to upgrade.
>Eventuially, as an adult, I sold the whole thing to make a down payment on a house.
