Yeah, you're right. I should.
But, I'd rather have my testicles mangled in a lawnmower than support the English football team.
well said...

There's plenty of good-humoured rivalry, which is common in football.

Extreme anti-English racism? Underlying hatred?

I don't see any of this.
would you walk through possil park at 7pm tonight wearing an england jersey? would any sane human being?

I'm not saying there isn't anti-English racism - I'm saying there isn't any here.

And I wouldn't walk through Possilpark (one word) wearing any football top.

A guy was badly beaten in Glasgow the other day by a gang wearing England tops - there is an element of Rangers support who are vociferous England supporters. Makes sense to them.

I was also talking about Scotland in general, not the peace loving hippies on RHP.

i don't mind england, and i hope that they do well. i just don't want to be hearing about their victory for the next 40 year.

i'm not supporting england at the moment, but that's not because i don't like the English but meerly because i prefer supporting the underdog. i've had plenty of practice at this supporting Scotland. i shall probably support them in the group stages. not sure what i'll do if they get in the final though...
I'm English but don't actually live in the UK and even I'm sick of hearing about Ronney's damn foot and how one minute it's "We are not a one man team" and the next it's "England World cup hopes in tatters" because someone broke a toenail.

I don't think England's world cup winning year is mentioned that much though. I imagine any country that has only won it once will always bring it up during football tournaments, not just the English.

Personally, I usually support the home nations team if England aren't in the competition but I don't begrudge the Scots some good humored wind ups.

Contrary to the opinion of the media, not everyone is a football fan, and some of us do get sick of hearing about it all the time.

I don't begrudge other people following it, just the assumption that everyone will be interested in it.
None of my family is interested, only a handful of people at work.

The most committed England fan I know is Welsh (!). He has flags on his car and everything.

Oh, I tend to follow the home nations - even Ireland - in international sports. Only, most of them are no good at cricket, which is my favourite...

I took your statement "how much I HATE the extreme anti-English racism that I find here." to mean RHP.

It's either that, or hear about the last one for 80. 😛

Yeah, when I re-read it that's exactly what I see as well. I meant 'here' to be Scotland, not RHP. I didn't really think it through properly.

As a proud and confident Scotsman I am happy to support England and wish them luck.

I don't need to espouse dislike or hatred for England to define my Scottishness..I'm Scottish so am automatically better :-)

You know what they say: "When a Scotsman moves south, the collective IQ rises on both sides of the border!" :-)

Chin chin !

Isn't it the English AND Welsh cricket board?

You are right about hearing about it forever. I believe that the English Media have to take a lot of the blame. If we didn't keep on hearing about '66, Rooney's foot and Crouch's crap dancing then many more Scots would be receptive towards the English football team. I also believe that Motty is the chief culprit in this respect.
Trust me. However much the English media annoy you, it isn't half as much as they annoy some of the English. All this obsession with Rooney's foot has actually undermined what little chance we had, for a start.
