I feel a little confused ..... I have been a member of this site for some time and only stumbled on the New Year Tournament by accident.
On closer inspection I have found untold competitions happening .

I am as computer savvy as the next person, so how do enter all that is going on around me ?

Just check the tournaments link regularly. The new tournaments are shown at the top of the list and there are usually several days during which you can enter.

before the tournament page/program was made tournaments were done by just telling the tourney director the game id and it didnt have a page in the site where you could see the results.

I think I should be informed of an up and coming competition

When I first log on, maybe a short message ??
