so after 'updating' my avg i've start to get a message about an 'untrusted connection' everytime i try to log on to sites like ebay, facebook, banking sites... basically any site that uses a password that isn't a gaming site.

i've tried to compltely remove the avg but there's a few components it won't allow me to remove, 7 named 'avgwdwc.dll' and another called 'avgwdsvc', when i try to delete it says access is denied.

any ideas?

You either have a bug, or AVG went mental like a woman scorned when you uninstalled it. Run malwarebytes to cross the bug off the list. If it's AVG then we might have to get the rest of the "general forum computer experts" over here for a bigger knowledge pool.

Do you have full admin login? You might also try going in safe mode with networking. Are you using XP? With safe mode/neworking, you can download other AV's like the guy said, Malwarebytes is a pretty good free one. We have a nice flame session going on a post I made about a question on AV's. Good luck. I don't think RHP is a very good site to get real advice, mostly you get smug and arrogant.

There's nothing wrong with the download, I had no problems at all.

hhtp://dl.betanews.com (or http://dl.betanews.com) doesn't exist.

I'm hoping that you're using firefox.

If not then this won't help:

He may be referring to system recovery to an earlier date if you have SR enabled. If you do a system restore to say a week or two ago, any time before you bad download, it may fix the problem.
