"That kinda illustrates my point too. You can label something for the purpose of communication but the label, no matter how hard you believe it, doesn't make it true. You can label me "stupid", but it has no effect on my ability to understand things. If I can internalize this freedom from labels, then I may not get angry (or hurt) when they're used. That allows me to keep my mind / heart open and clear ... I may see that your act of labeling me "stupid" provides a hint as to your thoughts and feelings. Only you know the ultimate truth about these. I can guess my little heart out, but I will never KNOW. But communication is about trying to shine SOME light on that. If I WANT to communicate -- to know more about you, and I don't CLOSE UP because of my (mistaken) need to protect my worthiness, then that label may help me to decide what inquiries might shed light on why you said what you said. If I continue this way, communication can happen. If I'm all focused on protecting my worthiness and the worthiness of some class of people (for example "women" ), then walls go up, boundaries are drawn, weapons come out and the battle is on. I don't see that as communication!"
