We had 395 cases today. 274 the day before. The expect the new variant to spread quickly.
They are now very concerned.

The numbers are big here as we've never had numbers like that since the beginning of the Pandemic. We are small Province of a little under a million people and about half of those are in the area I am in. We have roughly about 500,000 here in Halifax.

@very-rusty saidIf it’s the omicron variant it will go through Halifax like a dose of salts but the distances between populations will slow the spread. Some sources are indicating symptoms are not nearly as severe as the delta variant. Let’s hope so or it’s going to be a rough six months.

@divegeester saidYes, I believe that is the omicron variant. Like I say the most densely populated area is in Halifax about approximately 500,000 that is half the population of the whole Province which is small if you've seen it on a map.

The biggest concern is the state of the health care systems.
Not buckling under.
Some thinking that Omicron spells the end of the pandemic.
@mghrn55 saidGosh let’s hope so Mike.
Some thinking that Omicron spells the end of the pandemic.
The good news is that no virus we’ve had, no matter how deadly, has yet wiped us out, because they all become less harmful as they become more infectious. But the flip side of that is that Spanish Flu was probably a variant!
@very-rusty saidNo one knows yet Rusty. Next few weeks will tell.

@mghrn55 saidYes they were talking about the health care workers themselves having it and spreading it. or first line workers like Police, fireman, etc., etc.,

I don't like the sounds of it if, hope you right about it being the end of it. I want to be around to give you guys a hard time! 😉 It would be nice if it were marking the end of the Pandemic, but I do have my doubts.

@divegeester saidYup that is what they are saying here next few weeks to a month will tell us. I think there was talk about not opening the schools for a month; they just went on Christmas break.
