My younger son has spent a week each of the last two summers at a Russian language camp and has fallen in love with your great state.
My friend, I am sorry I came across that way. It just didn't make sense to compare past games. I know you love sports and the Cowboys.
I am very partial to the State of texas, and what it means to our great country.
I stood in front of the Alamo, and just slipped years in to the past.

Good luck with your Team next year, they will put another run together!
:-)
I do bleed Cowboy stars in grey and blue, but it is indeed only a game. I am glad you love America as much as I do. Perhaps the Cowboys will get Bret Farvre after he retires again after winning the SB for the Vkings!

i think the press and the army at the time gave a diffirent slant to the story to make him more of a hero.
I beleive they then back-track their story when how he really died that day come to light
Originally posted by spurs73Everybody knows it was a friendly fire incident. That may diminish Tillmn's heroism in your mind, but not in mind. Friendly fire is one of the greatest of hazards for a soldier in a firefight. There was a firefight. Fire gets returned and mistakes are made. Tillman had nothing to do with information supression. He spilled his blood by the time the story was changed. The way I see it's people like you, who would remove a hero's heroism, who are the cause for press releases being altered or sustained after the truth is known to them (the military). Tillman is no more less or more of a hero because of the manner of his death. He died serving his country, and yes, even died for you, whether you like it or not, or whether you appreciate it or not! I know you're Brit and likely have little appreciation for the fact that were it not for Tillman and the likes of him you would be speaking German, assuming the Nazis had let you live! Tillman was fighting the curse of Islamic terrorism, a curse that has affected your country as well as mine. Hence he was potecting you as well!

C'mon, they lied simply because they were afraid that they might look bad. It's not justified however you might want to look at it. People, not least of all his family, deserved to know the truth.
Originally posted by ThinkOfOneWho justifies lying? You assume there is some all seeing eye and the brass always knows what happened. You don't know who knew what and when. The manner of death does not diminish the heroism. How do you know what the family knew or did not know? I consider the matter closed. End of story. Tillman is a hero whether you or your ilk like it or not. Tillman shed his blood. Friendly fire happens. Accidents happen. Our military heros sometimes die in training. Are they less heroic?

You might find the following story from March 2007 enlightening:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2819891
Here's an excerpt:
Tillman's mother, Mary, told the AP on Saturday the newly disclosed document demonstrates Bush was complicit in deceiving her family.
"He knew it was friendly fire in the very beginning, and he never intervened to help, and he essentially has covered up a crime in order to promote the war," Mary Tillman said in a telephone interview. "All of this was done for PR purposes."
Read it. They were angry and for good reason.
You may "consider the matter closed", but evidently it's been an open sore for the Tillman family for some time. Tillman was killed in April 2004. Here's another story from May 2009:

The sad fact is that debating you and you anti-military types is a waste of time. Most definitely not worth my while. Therefore, don't bother responding for I will not. I won't read your links either, so spare yourself the time as well. Have a good time researching whatever your sources are and have a good day!
