c) The Science Forum Accounts for 1.3% of Total Threads (1,359 / 103,015)
One Question: Given the Point/Counterpoint Relationship Between Spirituality and Science in Contemporary Conversation,
why would the RHP Spirituality Forum Account for 5.83 Times More Threads than the Science Forum? (7,927 / 1,359)

In answer to your question, people who post to Science don't generally use it to debate conflicts between faith and reason or between this faith and that faith. [Edit: people like RJ drop into Science once in a while but don't get very far.]
Also, since Galileo, disputes within the realm of science are settled by an agreed method which lets the chips fall where they may. Disputes in the realm of religion don't have such a method. [Edit: Your question belongs in Science {as psychology, sociology, or history of science and religion) unless the only answer you will accept is a Spiritual one like 'Because God wants it that way.']

The fact that more people like yelling the same arguments at each other over and over again
when arguing about religion doesn't indicate much other than the number of irrational people
involved in the arguments.
Also while this may be a good site for having knock down arguments about religion there are
far better places to go for good discussions of/news of science.

I would say that the reality is that Science is rather cut and dried, whereas Spirituality leaves room for differences of opinion, differences of belief and differences of tolerance, leading to a much more lively discussion. I'm in a slightly different place than most posters here, for while I have a strong religious outlook, I also understand and accept Science as fact. I just don't see much point in expressing an opinion in the Science forum. Science is not about opinion chasing, and so does not lend itself to much forum argument/discussion. that's all.

Given your recent thoughtful threads in the Spirituality forum, this stark kneejerk assessment seems rather... um, disappointing.

There are plenty of difference of opinion in science, it is anything but cut and dried. There are people in science who have a lifetime invested in pursuing their particular field and if someone new comes along with different results, fireworks usually ensues. I have been in the middle of several of those discussions, I saw it first hand.
It's just that fact-gathering is a little more problematic in Spirituality than in Science, as a general rule.

One small comment about the original data. Both forums were originally split off from the main forum thread, currently named the General Forum, created in 2001 (almost 12 years old). For several years the Spirituality and Science was contained in the GF.
Spirituality was created in February 2005 and thus has operated for 8 years.
Science was created in February 2008 and has operated for 5 years.
So the percentages given are completely erroneous, and even the raw numbers are inaccurate.
If you look back through the Spirituality Forum, you will find the same topics being rehashed over and over, some for dozens of repetitions. Very few of those rehashes appear in Science.
