General

What things have you got around your home which, as useful to you as they may have been at some point, they are these days rather obsolete in your life as you now live it?

I have a really nice quality military style magnetic compass.

lasso

phone book of Leipzig from 1979

astronauts' ultimate party cook book from 1970

lots of phone books, cook books, and reference books of a general type such as dictionaries and encyclopaedias.

There are still loads of books and toys in the house that my children have grown out of; their out-grown clothes we gave away as we went along.

My reproductive system.

Just about everything except the few clothes I wear, running water and light bulbs. Oh, and my Bible.

It was a joke. I prefer natural light. Point is I have a house and it came with fixtures and light switches. I'm not at home as much as I would like to be, so I don't use much of what's in it. Most of it belongs to my wife since she uses it all the time. I guess I should have included my bed and the chair I sit on too. 😉

Maybe I'm taking the OP to seriously. I'm not materialistic. I try to minimize the number of man made objects I need to survive. In my opinion living life has little to do with what "stuff" one has and everything to do with what one is and does.
