I live in a house that's less than 2 years old in a clean area - and what do I see in my kitchen today but a bloody rat! Not too big (maybe 10 inches) but the cheeky bugger had even dared come out (probably due to the smell of the food we were cookin) while me and my mate were chatting with the TV on loud (come on England!).

I've blocked up the hole he legged it through, but guaranteed he has more - and that there's more of them. Urrrgh! I can't get the exterminators in until Thursday and I don't feel like sleeping here until then. Any one had rats before? Any advice??

Don't over-feed him. Keep him warm and give him some toys to play with.

Know anyone with snakes or are you near a pet store that sells snakes? Freshly shed snake skin is an great rodent deterrent.

You were planning to sleep until Thursday? No wonder people say the mods nod.

"Not too big -10 inches." My friend, pray tell how long a big rat would be? Visit that other thread and I'm sure you will be packing your bags. God bless.
