*sigh* this just sucks:
Today I went out and bought a vinyl record. Yes, as you can see, there are 16-year-olds who know what a vinyl record is. Before I tell you what it was, make sure you're sitting comfortably... ready? Ok, it was Chicago X by Chicago. Shocked now? Well, that was actually not my intention, I haven't even started whining yet.
The thing is, I bought it because I kinda like Chicago and it was only 5 Euros. Obviously, I wouldn't have bought it if we didn't have a record player. Then, when I came home, the first surprise: The record player was not, as I had thought, connected to the stereo in the living room... in fact, it was hidden in the cellar. Ok, so maybe it has been there for half a year without me noticing, but that's beside the point.
So, I went downstairs, took the record player up to my room and plugged it in. The record player is one of those old ones that don't have built-in loudspeakers, so I spent some time looking for the right cables, but then I had found them and I connected the record player to the loudspeakers from my computer... only to find it wouldn't work.
And why?
Because I don't have an amplifier. It just sucks. I hate my life. What did I ever do to deserve this?

Would suggest replacing the stylus also - it may be quite old and could damage your record.

Records are cut with reduced bass for technical reasons. You'll need proper equipment to play it back, otherwise it will sound really weird.

Just go to Radio Shack or some electronics store and you might get something low-cost that will work with your computer.

You need to add a bit more slapstick for our pre-pubescent friend. And some funny noises would have aided your effort as well.

you can buy adaptors - what's the plug on the cable look like? is there one or two bits comming out of it? or is it one big plug? or a little one like your speakers? also - do your computer speakers not have a built in amp?

and what's wrong with LP's?!? cheaper, and better quality if you've got the right equiptment! 😉

*doesn't have the right equiptment*...
